Flight to Lake Eyre - 2 Days 1 Night

Discover some of Australia’s most remote and spectacular landscapes on an unforgettable two-day small-group flight departing from Shepparton Airport.

This fully hosted outback adventure lets you experience iconic destinations such as Birdsville, Big Red, Lake Eyre, William Creek and the Flinders Ranges without spending days travelling by road. With a maximum of eight passengers, the trip offers a relaxed and personal way to see an incredible variety of historic locations, remote communities and changing landscapes from the air.

Day One: Shepparton to Birdsville

Meet your hosts at Shepparton Airport at approximately 7:00 am, ready for departure at around 7:30 am.

Once airborne, the adventure begins with spectacular views over the ancient landscapes of Lake Mungo and the Walls of China. Continue over the Menindee Lakes before landing in Broken Hill, where a provided lunch and a short break await.

After departing Broken Hill, fly deeper into the Australian outback, passing over Cameron Corner, where Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia meet. The journey continues over the historic Burke & Wills Dig Tree and the Innamincka region before arriving in Birdsville.

After checking into your overnight accommodation, meet at the iconic Birdsville Pub before heading out on a guided town and sunset tour.

Travel to Big Red, Australia’s famous desert sand dune, and enjoy drinks and nibbles while watching the sun set across the surrounding desert. It is a memorable way to end your first day in the outback.

Return to Birdsville for dinner at the Birdsville Pub before settling into your accommodation for the evening.

Day Two: Birdsville, Lake Eyre and the Flinders Ranges

Start the morning with optional birdwatching around Birdsville’s lagoon, followed by a buffet breakfast at the Birdsville Pub.

After breakfast, take to the air again and fly across the remarkable Channel Country. Follow Warburton Creek towards the Warburton Inlet of Lake Eyre, seeing the waterways, floodplains and desert landscapes that make this region so unique.

Fly over Lake Eyre and surrounding landmarks, including Delhunti Island and Silt Island, before continuing to William Creek. Land for a provided lunch and experience the atmosphere of one of Australia’s smallest and most remote outback towns.

The return journey includes views of the enormous Marree Man, one of the world’s largest land artworks, followed by spectacular flying over the rugged Flinders Ranges and Wilpena Pound.

After stopping in Renmark to refuel, follow the Murray River back towards Shepparton. The expected return time is between approximately 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm.

Flights are scheduled to depart from Shepparton Airport, with passenger pick-ups potentially available from Tocumwal, Kerang, Echuca and Deniliquin by prior arrangement.

Routes, departure times, landing locations and individual flyover landmarks may be adjusted due to weather, aircraft requirements or other operational conditions. Any necessary changes will be made with passenger comfort and safety as the priority.
